The Life and Times of AdMob

As the number of ads in the AdMob’s Marketplace has grown, we’ve heard from our publishers that the time it takes them to manage the ads which appear on their site or iPhone application has increased.  We know publishers want to spend their time working to give their users the best possible experience, not managing ads. With this in mind, we’ve updated our ad approval UI and functionality to increase visibility and make it easier for publishers to manage the ads that will appear on their site.

Publishers will be able to preview the new interface in their account next Monday, February 2. For all of our thousands of publishers out there, here is a sneak peek at some of the major features:

Search
We added search functionality to the ad review process to give enhanced visibility and make it more efficient to manage a site. You can now search through all ads that are eligible to appear on your site by either ad URL or ad text. If you find an ad which you’d like to block from your site, you will be able to create a filter based on the ad’s URL or text.

Filters
You can control the ads which appear on your site with a range of filters we’ve created based on publisher feedback about ways we could streamline the ad approval process. Filters include:
•    URL Filter – Blocks ads that link to specific URLs.  For example, you may want to block ads that link to a competitive product or service.
•    Text Filter – Blocks ads that contain a specific word or words in their ad text.
•    Category Filter – Blocks ads of a certain type by selecting from our category choices.
•    Language Filter – Block ads with text written in specific languages.  Only serve ads in the languages your users can read.

Copy Your Settings Across Multiple Sites
Copy the filters and settings you selected from one site to other sites you may have in our network. This will help you save time when managing multiple sites in a single account.

We are excited about these upcoming changes. We believe they will allow publishers to spend less time managing ands and give them better visibility into the impact of their decisions.
