Every day, we see ad requests from more than 160 countries. You may have seen our AdMonitor that displays a real-time sample of ad requests as users browse sites in our network all around the world. We gather a great deal of data from each ad request, impression, and click, including location, operator, device manufacturer, device model, and device capabilities data. We’ve now served more than 24 billion ads, and along the way we’ve become very adept at storing and analyzing this data. Here are 3 key ways we use this data:
- To optimize ad serving for the AdMob Marketplace
- To provide insights on a site-specific basis in our recently announced AdMob Mobile Analytics product for data-driven decision making
- To share a snapshot of the growth and activity of the mobile web in aggregate with the community through our AdMob Mobile Metrics Report
The AdMob Mobile Metrics Report is produced on a monthly basis and reveals trends and growth in our top markets (US, India, UK, South Africa, and Indonesia) and worldwide. AdMob’s traffic is driven by publisher relationships and thus the information in the report may not be representative of the mobile web as a whole. Because the data is pulled from ads served in our network of more than 4,500 sites, we feel the data will be useful and may help inform your business decision making.
Here is a list of stats that we share in the report for each of our top markets:
- Top device manufacturers
- Top handset models
- Smartphone traffic by manufacturer and OS
- Breakdown of device capabilities
- Share of requests by screen size
- Manufacturers share by operator
